Emmanouil (Manos) received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in 2004. He received his MSc and PhD in Medical Physics in 2006 and 2010, respectively, from the University of Patras, both funded by the National State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. He worked as Research Associate in Medical Imaging (Marie Curie) at University Colleague London (UCL) from June to October 2010. From August 2011 to December 2015, he worked as Research Associate in Bioinformatics at Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA). From 2010 to 2015 he worked as Adjunct laboratory instructor (lecturer level) at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Athens and Lecturer at the Postgraduate Program «Advanced Systems and Methods in Biomedical Engineering», 2014 – 2016. From January 2016 to July 2018 he worked as Research Associate in Bioinformatics at the Department of Haematology at University of Cambridge, also affiliated with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the Wellcome – MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, while supervising MSc and PhD students from University of Cambridge. From July 2018 until July 2020, He worked as Computational Biologist in Functional Genomics at GSK, while working as Visiting Scientist in OpenTargets and mentoring Research Associates from University of Cambridge. In 2019 he also elected GSK Associate Fellow (top ~5% of people working at GSK’s R&D globally). From July 2020 until August 2022, he was working as Group Leader (Staff Research Scientist – Associate Professor level) at BRFAA in the field of “Analysis of Genomic Data” for the needs of Systems Biology Center, also affiliated with OpenTargets working as Visiting Scientist. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of West Attica, Athens Greece. During his research carrier, he has been awarded with “K. Karatheodoris” scholarship (2018-2010), as well as worked in more than 10 EU funding programs, while his scientific work has been published in more than 30 Journals with Impact Factor (h-index 14). Since 2010, he is also reviewer in more than 10 Scientific journals including Nature, Bioinformatics, Briefings in Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics, Medical Physics, PLOS ONE, etc.
