Dr. Michail Christos: Education-Qualifications: First degree in Medical Instruments Technology (Athens, Greece), Master degree and PhD in Medical Physics. Awards: He was awarded with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) for Academic Years 2007-2010 on the ‘Technology of Telecommunications in Medicine’ specialty after succeeding in the exams of the Foundation. Areas of research: His research interests include development and evaluation (both experimental and theoretical) of radiation detectors for use in digital imaging systems, in the development of Dual Energy methods for breast, bones, etc., image quality evaluation in PET & SPECT systems using Monte Carlo methods,

His Post-Doctoral research interests are:

      1. Development of novel Medical Imaging Dual Energy X-ray methods for osteoporosis, mammography, and angiography.
      2. Development of nano-phosphors for digital medical imaging and optoelectronic devices (quantum dots-QDs).
      3. Development of novel quality assurance methods for nuclear medicine imaging systems (SPECT and PET) using Monte Carlo and experimental verification.
      4. Development of a Dual energy digital tomosynthesis imaging system using a dedicated digital tomosynthesis mammography large area CMOS detector (Dexela 2923MAM)

 

Funded research projects: 15 funded research projects, as a researcher and 3 programs approved at the first stage of evaluation. He has also participated as a Reviewer in 73 scientific journals, as well as in international research programs (New Zealand Government, KAUST).

Current position: Associate Professor University of West Attica, Department of Biomedical Engineering. From 2011 he was an adjunct laboratory instructor in the Biomedical Engineering Department of the University of West Attica and he was also Instructor of the courses ‘Digital Imaging’ in the Department of Radiologic Technologists and ‘Biophysics’ in the Departments of Physiotherapy and Biomedical Sciences. He was Supervisor of 1PhD Candidate, and he currently is Supervisor of 1 PostDoc researcher and member in 5 Doctoral Advisory Committees.

He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journals Engineering, technology and Applied Science Research (ETASR until 2021) and e-Journal of Science & Technology (e-JST), as well as, Guest Editor of the Special Issues “Development and Application of Novel Dual Energy X-ray Imaging Methods” in Crystals journal (IF 2.7), “Radiation Detectors and Sensing Technologies for Biomedical Applications” in Sensors journal (IF 3.9), as well as Guest Editor of the special issues (2015) 637 and (2017) 931 in J. Phys.: Conf. Ser. Τhe h-index according to Scopus is 14 (excluding self-citations). He is a member of the Greek Society of Experimental Mechanics of Materials, the Italian Group Fracture (IGF) Certificate code: IGF 65/20 and the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) Member ID: 2022-483.

Publications: He has published 140 Peer-reviewed papers. Furthermore 65 proceedings in international scientific conferences with referees, 93abstracts, 1 book, 10 book chapters, 27 proceedings in National scientific congresses and 10 invited lectures.
