Appointed Lecturer (former), PostDoc Researcher

Dimitrios Menychtas received his PhD and MSc degrees in biomedical engineering from the University of South Florida, USA in 2018 and 2015 respectively. In 2009, he graduated from the Department of Medical Instrumentation Technology (now Department of Biomedical Engineering) of TEI of Athens (now University of West Attica).
He has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Robotics of PSL Université Paris (2019-2021) in Paris and at the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciene of the Democritus University of Thrace (2022-2023) in Komotini.
His expertise is in biomechanics, robotic applications, and human motion analysis. His main scientific interest is mathematical modeling of the human body as a complex robotic system and the application of techniques and algorithms for the analysis of human performance and the control of robotic systems through motion. This includes prosthetic limbs, exoskeletons and collaborative robots.
His postdoctoral research aims to create a robotic model that will capture the geometry of the human body. This aspires to open up new ways of analyzing performance and designing exoskeletons.
