The studies in our Department have as purpose to teach the theoretical and applied technological principles of the following sectors in the field of Biomedical Engineering:

The Internship lasts 3 months and it takes place in private companies which produce or sell medical devices, in hospitals and in other public or private sector enterprises or institutions, in order to consolidate the previous semesters’ knowledge. The exercise also provides the possibility of taking initiative and developing problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Finally, the Diploma Thesis provides the opportunity for the student to obtain the experience of studying a specific aspect of biomedical engineering in depth, focusing on developing the student’s personal skills.
Starting from the academic year 2019-2020, the duration of undergraduate studies is ten (10) semesters, while by 2020-2021 graduate students obtain Integrated Master’s degree.
During the first nine (9) semesters, the studies include theoretical teaching, laboratory exercises, design and construction of devices, seminars, visits to hospitals and practicals. The curriculum includes 3-months of practical training by selection (instead of two theoretical courses) in the public or private sector, while the last (10th) semester is dedicated to the Diploma Thesis.
Seventy-nine (79) courses are in total available in the curriculum (with Internship and Diploma Thesis), 30 of them are elective. The total number of courses to graduate is 61 or 63 (depending on the selection of Internship or no), as well as the Diploma Thesis.
The courses are divided into General Background (17 courses), Special Background (45 courses) and Specialization (17 courses). Moreover, 18 of these courses (which are of Special Background or Specialization types) are characterized as courses of Level 7.
