Theodosis Kalamatianos graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, U.K with a Bachelor of Science (honors) degree in Medical Biochemistry (1994). He subsequently completed a Master of Science course in Neurological Science at University College London, U.K (1995). He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree having completed his studies at King’s College London, U.K (2004). His PhD thesis is entitled: “Peptide and peptide receptor gene expression in the diencephalon of rats and mice: neuroanatomical insights into circadian processes”. Between 2004 and 2009 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, at the Department of Biomedical and Health Sciences, King’s College London.

In 2011 he joined the first Department of Neurosurgery, National and Kapodistrian University (NKUA) of Athens Medical School as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Teaching staff. He has taught as an Αdjunct Faculty member (2019-) in MSc programs of the NKUA (Applied Neuroanatomy/Clinical and Experimental Neurosurgery) and the University of West Attica (Education Sciences through Innovative Technologies and Biomedical Approaches).

In 2024 he was elected Assistant Professor of Neuroanatomy and Neurobiology at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of West Attica, where he is currently based.

His published work includes a book chapter and over 85 manuscripts (Impact factors: Scopus h-index = 19, >1630 citations and Google Scholar h-index = 26, >2820 citations). He has contributed over 40 abstracts/talks to scientific meetings in Greece and abroad and received meeting awards at the 48ο National Medical Meeting and the 35ο meeting of the Hellenic Neurosurgical Society. He is the Section Editor in Chemical Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology and Editorial Board Member of six peer-reviewed scientific journals.

He has supervised over 30 master’s degree student theses.

His current research includes anatomical studies as well as studies on neurological disease biomarkers.
