Marilena (Marianthi) Pateraki is an adjunct faculty member at the University of West Attica, teaching “Bioethics and Biomedical Engineering” and “Science, Technology and Society”. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). In 2022 she was awarded her PhD in STS, and Critical Disability Studies. Her dissertation is entitled Experiencing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in Greece: Between Curative Imaginary and Bionic Incorporation. During the academic year 2022-2023, she was a adjunct faculty at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science (NKUA), funded by Enterprise Agreement for the Development Framework (NSRF). She has participated in international conferences and workshops and has published in peer- reviewed journals in Greek and in English. She was invited twice, in 2016 and 2018, as a speaker in workshops of NormaStim SPHERE (UMR 7219, CNRS/University Paris Diderot-Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne, USPC), a research program focused on the interdisciplinary study of DBS.
