Dr Evangelos Karvelas has graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Energy Technology Department of the Technological Institute of Athens in 2009. He obtained a Master diploma from the School of Engineering, Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom in 2012. His thesis project was “A three Dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis (CFD) of an Anode Direct Methanol Fuel Cell” under the supervision of Prof. Ioannis Sarris. In addition, he obtained a PhD in Engineering from the University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece in 2019. The topic of his PhD research was “Magnetic navigation of particles in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids” under the supervision of Prof. Theodoros Karakasidis. He has participated in NanoTher program as a researcher in order to develop a computational method for the navigation of nanoparticles inside the human blood vessels. In addition, he has participated in a short term post-doctoral research program at the Nazarbayev University of Kazakhstan. Furthermore, he was postdoctoral research associate in the laboratory of Thermofluid systems in the department of mechanical engineering of the University of West Attica. At the moment, he is a postdoctoral research associate in the Condensed Matter Physics laboratory in the department of Physics of the University of Thessaly. Finally, he is an author of more than 20 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings.
