Dr. Dimitris Barmpakos is an Electronic Engineer T.E. (TEI of Lamia, 2014) with a Master’s degree in Design and Development of Advanced Electronic Systems (TEI of Athens, 2017) and a PhD in Flexible and Printed Electronics (University of Patras, 2021), awarded through a full “Industrial PhD” scholarship from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. He is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of West Attica.
He has been teaching since 2020 as an Academic Scholar in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of West Attica. He has participated as a Postdoctoral Researcher in research projects focusing on printed and flexible microsystems and the development of electronic devices. The institutions he has worked with include: a) the School of Chemical Engineering (NTUA), b) the Laboratory of Cell Technology (AUA), and c) the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NCSR “D”).
He has published 12 papers in scientific journals and presented 15 peer-reviewed papers at international conferences. He serves as a reviewer for journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, Nature Communications, Wiley Advanced Functional Materials, IEEE Journal on Flexible Electronics, among others, having completed over 100 peer reviews (as of October 2024). Additionally, he is a Guest Editor for the Special Issue “Printed Electronics: Shaping the Future of Sensors with New Design and Fabrication Methods” in the journal Electronics (MDPI).
Since 2016, he has also been working as a freelance Electronic Engineer, involved in the design, development, and supervision of innovative product production.
