Academic Calendar
The academic year kicks off on September 1st and wraps up on August 31st of the subsequent calendar year. Educational activities for each academic year are divided into two semesters: winter and spring. Each semester spans 13 weeks of courses, followed by a three-week examination period at the semester’s end.
The academic calendar outlines the following dates:
- Start and end dates of classes for both the winter and spring semesters,
- Examination periods for both the winter and spring semesters, as well as the September retake exams,
- Christmas and Easter holidays.
The academic calendar also includes the official holidays for each semester. It is announced before the start of each academic year, following a decision by the Senate of the University of West Attica.
Winter Semester of Academic Year 2023 – 2024
- Start of classes: Tuesday, October 17, 2023
- End of classes: Friday, January 26, 2024 (13 weeks)
- Make-up classes: Monday, January 29, 2024, to Friday, February 2, 2024 (1 week)
- Start of examination period: Monday, February 5, 2024
- End of examination period: Friday, March 8, 2024
Spring Semester of Academic Year 2023 – 2024
- Start of classes: Monday, March 11, 2024
- End of classes: Friday, June 21, 2024 (13 weeks)
- Make-up classes: Monday, June 24, 2024, to Friday, June 28, 2024 (1 week)
- Start of First Examination Period: Monday, July 1, 2024
- End of First Examination Period: Friday, July 26, 2024
- Start of Second Examination Period: Monday, September 2, 2024
- End of Second Examination Period: Friday, September 27, 2024
