Seminar talks in the Department of Biomedical Engineering

You are invited to attend two exciting seminar talks by Dr. Andreas Calatzis, on Tuesday 30/05/2023, 5-7 pm, in room Κ16.102 of the Egaleo Park Campus of the University of West Attica.

Each talk will last about 1 hour:

1) Ιntroduction into intellectual property, patents and freedom to operate analysis

2) R&D in biomedical engineering

Dr. Andreas Calatzis (https://www.linkedin.com/in/calatzis/) is a serial entrepreneur from the area of in vitro diagnostics. During his medical studies in Munich, Germany, he developed a widely used blood coagulation analyzer (ROTEM analyzer), which he sold to the Swiss biomedical company Pentapharm. He later moved on to develop 2 more blood coagulation analyzers (Multiplate / ClotPro), which were acquired by Roche Diagnostics (Switzerland) and Haemonetics (USA). Following these acquisitions, he worked 5 years for Roche as a project leader and 3 years for Haemonetics as a Vice President in R&D. He is a coinventor of 12 international patents. He has a medical degree and doctorate from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and worked 10 years part-time at the department of transfusion medicine and haemostasis of the clinic of Munich University (LMU).
