Ilias Theodorakopoulos received his B.Sc. in Physics in 2007, a M.Sc. in Electronics and Computers in 2009 and a Ph.D in Pattern Recognition & Manifold Learning in 2014, all from University of Patras.

He is an Assistant Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace, working also with research groups from Physics and Medical Departments at the university of Patras and also research teams from the University of West Attica. He has extensive experience as an R&D researcher in the private sector, developing Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence systems for Industrial and consumer applications. He has worked within several European and state-funded Research Programs.

He is a co-author in 12 papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 18 papers in peer-reviewed scientific conferences (h-index 12; 550 citations), while he is an inventor in 2 patents granted by USPTO.

His research interests include Machine Learning and Deep Learning, with applications in the fields of Computer Vision, Biomedical Data Analysis and Biometric Identification.
